The plant species is the same (Cannabis sativa L.), but the genetics are different. Traditional recreational cannabis carries THC well above the 0.3% threshold as the dominant cannabinoid in the bud. CBD flower from our catalogue is the opposite: CBD is the dominant cannabinoid and THC is kept under the 0.3% EU-harmonised threshold.
The genetics are sourced from the European Common Catalogue of agricultural plant varieties, selected for high CBD expression and low THC. The aromatic and visual signature can look similar, with the same trichomes and the same terpene families, but the chemistry is different.
