How is CBD hash made (sieving, ice-water, hand-rubbed)?

Three sieving methods are used at our EU production sites. Dry sift uses calibrated mesh screens to separate the trichomes from the hemp flowers under low ambient temperature; this method suits varieties that need a lighter aromatic touch, like the Moroccan style. Ice-water sieving (sometimes called Ice-O-Lator, after the Dutch innovator Mila Jansen who developed it in the late 1990s) suspends the flowers in iced water and uses decreasing-mesh sieves to recover the trichomes by sedimentation. This method suits high-cannabinoid varieties where extraction efficiency matters. Hand-rubbing detaches the trichomes directly from the flower by friction, producing a sticky resin closer to the Charas, Afghan and Nepali styles. After sieving, the loose resin is pressed under controlled heat (around 35 to 40 degrees Celsius) into the final format you find in the jar.
