Is CBD forbidden by European law?

Modified on: 07/11/2023

Even if it has been a very complicated path, CBD is now legal both in the Ireland and in Europe in general, since its beneficial effects have been acknowledged by distinguishing it from THC. Unless, the latter, that may cause paranoia anxiety and in general mental alteration, CBD contributes to the well-being of body and soul.

The UE dealt with the matter issuing first a Regulation (2013/1307/UE) and the year after a Directive (2014/639/UE). In both cases the European legislator did not specifically address the lawfulness of CBD flower, but by asserting that industrial hemp productions are legally allowed exclusively if the THC level of the buds lays below 0,2% it implies that high CBD hemp strains are not forbidden as long as these products don’t present THC in a higher percentage. Nothing is said about hemp cultivation at home, which is therefore to be considered illegal.

The Ireland not only agreed with the European regulation and fixed the limit for THC content below the same percentage, but addressed the CBD issue directly. After the observation of the therapeutic properties of CBD, the latter has been included in the drug register.

JustBob online shop sells flowers whose THC concentration is below 0,2%, actually near zero. Compliance with legislations is certified through lab analysis, that guarantee lawfulness, quality and, therefore, safeness of the inflorescences.
